Kejafi

Kejafi is a Sydney-based band consisting of Fiona McVicar on fiddle and vocals, James Gastineau-Hills on fiddles and Ken O’Neill on bouzouki.

Ken and Fiona have been part of the Irish music community in Sydney for over 20 years. In 2017 they joined up with scottish fiddler James to create the Sydney Scottish Session, giving interested musicians a forum to meet up and share Scottish music, so closely-related to traditional Irish music. From this session Kejafi was born. Focusing on a modern, west-coast style of playing and arrangement, Kejafi’s music has much in common with the fiddle music from Ulster, with which there is an overlap of tunes and style. Scottish songs are also part of their set, both in English and Gàidhlig. Kejafi has played at numerous festivals and folk clubs and in 2019 recorded their debut album, Coast.
