Guro Kvifte Nesheim is a hardanger fiddle and hardanger d’amore player and composer from Norway who works mostly with traditional and contemporary Nordic folk music. Guro is from Oslo and started playing the Hardanger fiddle when she was seven years old. She has learnt from many of the leading Hardanger masters and been awarded prizes for her playing in national competitions for traditional music. Her love of fiddle music extends across the border of Norway to encompass the rich fiddle tradition of Sweden also. Since graduating from the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden, Guro has worked as a freelance musician with a variety of different constellations in Sweden and Norway. Her band GKN5 released their debut album “Bestastove” in 2018 and since then, despite Corona, they have stayed busy with performances in Scandinavia. Along with her band GKN5 Guro has recently performed with Ale Moller, Anni Noksasp Ensemble and the band Groupa. This will be Guro’s first time to play in Ireland.
