Workshop: Norwegian Fiddle with Astrid Garmo & Lars Erik Øygarden

Astrid Garmo comes from Garmo in Gudbrandsdalen; a village with a strong fiddle tradition. As well as being a great traditional fiddler, Astrid is involved in many different projects playing various styles of music. Many will know her as a member of the trad indie band Pumpegris, currently making waves in Norway and on the international circuit.

Lars Erik Øygarden is a fiddle player and teacher from the town of Rauland in Telemark. Son of fiddler Arne Øygarden he grew up listening to fiddle music every day, and also learned from local fiddle players in the local music school. Lars Erik has focused on the more obscure traditions in the otherwise very well known region of Telemark, using archive recordings to expand the variety of playing tunes.
