Gráinne Brady & John McCartin
Gráinne Brady is a fiddle player and composer from County Cavan, rooted in the traditional music of the north-west of Ireland.
Back and Forth is her new tune-led album, bringing together traditional and contemporary Irish music shaped by years of playing across Ireland and Scotland. The record reflects the social life of tunes learned, shared and carried between people and places, and is full of lift, rhythm and energy.
For this CD launch performance, Gráinne will be joined by County Leitrim guitarist John McCartin, widely known for his work with Garadice and Carlos Sweeney McCartan, and for his playing with Dervish and Gatehouse. John’s driving, sensitive accompaniment brings depth and momentum to the music, making this a special collaboration to celebrate the album’s release.
Back and Forth captures where Gráinne’s playing sits today: grounded in tradition, shaped by long musical friendships, and driven by a love of shared music-making. This launch concert marks the beginning of a new chapter for the project, presented live in a setting that celebrates both the tunes themselves and the community around them.
